The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, September 15th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 39 members and 3 visitors in attendance.
Lion Elliott Courtwright was responsible for the program and introduced Dave Collett, Pastor, First Baptist Church, who spoke about the Mason Food Bank. The Food Bank distributes a box of food items to families that need help meeting their family's nutritional needs. The Food Bank is overseen by the Ministerial Alliance of Mason. These food boxes are distributed on the first Monday of each month. They have given 495 boxes of food on these dates since the first of the year. With help from the different churches members to pack the boxes and carry them out to the peoples vehicles, a great need is ,meet for the people of Mason county. The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, September 22nd, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Nolan Donop.
The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
