Hill Country Resource Conservation & Development Celebrates RC&D Week 2009
Wednesday, September 23, 2009 • Posted September 23, 2009

Hill Country RC&D is joining with RC&D’s nationwide this week to celebrate the anniversary of the beginning of the RC&D program.

We are still going strong in eight counties: Mason, Kimble, Gillespie, Llano, San Saba, Lampasas, Burnet and Blanco. A portion of our funding comes from local sponsors from all eight counties so that we can provide technical and financial assistance to carry out our many projects. Some of those projects include Farm Safety Days for fifth graders in all counties, small landowner workshops, range field days and workshops, such as the upcoming Fall Hill Country Expo on October 1 and Rainwater Harvest Workshop in San Saba on October 8.

In the past we have sponsored a computer donation program to various area school districts, coordinated Dry Hydrant donations to local volunteer fire departments and assisted county and city governments with Emergency Watershed Protection issues. We sponsored a Household Recyclables Collection in March and a tire recycling event with the City of Mason in July. Our Matching Grant Program has benefited volunteer fire departments, prescribed burn associations, soil and water conservation districts and many other community organizations.

We wish to thank our Mason supporters and the support we get from our surrounding counties! If you need more information about our upcoming events, please call 325-347-5005 or see our website at
