This is a little overdue, but I wanted to pass along some thanks to a couple of people, Scott Spencer and Andy Delcuze, who did something really nice for me for no other reason than, well, they’re nice. Lately, it seems we’re very quick to report on the negative but we let the positives in life go by without notice. I wanted to acknowledge this bit of generosity in a public forum.
A couple of months back I was working for Scott and during this time he noticed a mini-bike I had and asked about it. I explained it was my late father’s and that he used to use it to get around the pits during his auto racing days. I had tried to get it running again but ran out of time – and skills. Scott he said he knew someone who could (and would) fix it, so we loaded it into his truck and delivered it to Andy’s place.
A couple of weeks later Andy delivered the newly painted and fully repaired mini-bike to me. The most incredible part? He wouldn’t take any payment for it. Andy said he loved working on stuff like that so…don’t worry about it.
Anyway, I know this isn’t world peace or anything but it’s nice to know there are still people out there who, to quote an old Don Henley song, “do things simply for the love of it.”
Thanks again to Andy and Scott and here’s hoping I don’t break my neck riding that little beast around town.
