Blanco Wild Game Dinner Saturday
Wednesday, September 30, 2009 • Posted September 30, 2009

Organizers of the Wild Game Dinner are looking forward to serving a delicious variety of game to a large crowd this Saturday, October 3, at the Blanco County Show Barn in Johnson City.

This year’s fare is fried axis, fallow, wild game chili, whole roasted hog, gumbo, fried alligator, wild boar, fresh homemade sausage, boiled shrimp, possum balls, Melvin’s wild game stew, brisket, fried sweet potatoes, along with bacon wrapped dove, quail, pork, axis, shrimp and jalapenos stuffed with cheese. Meal includes Dutch oven cobbler, other homemade desserts and tea.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with serving and raffle starting at 5:30. It’s the best deal in town - $15 for the meal, door prize chance, and dance until midnight with The Mike Clifford Band.

The 50 raffle items look like everything you’d need for the deer lease (and more). Included are eighteen Rifles and Shotguns, Scopes, Game Camera, GPS, Rangefinder, Cookers, Binoculars, Knives and much more.

Only those attending the dinner will be able to participate in the two 100 Square Raffles featuring one of a kind Patriotic and Texas History airbrush designed guns. Also, $20 “Pick of the Raffle” chances will be sold until 8:00pm.

Six guns, an autographed University of Texas Football Helmet, Floating on the Frio package, New Year’s Eve Spur’s package, Saints verses Cowboys tickets, and two hunts, including a two day Red Stag Deer hunt with lodging at Benson Farm and Ranch, and an incredible 10-Day South African Hunting Safari for 2 Hunters, will be exciting live auction items during the evening’s schedule.

The whole family can get involved in the silent auction offering a wide variety of more than 120 items. A Guided Laguna Madre Fishing Trip, Red Cedar Kitchen Island, Roasted Hog for 100 Guests, Chainsaw Wood Sculpture by Jerry Hendricks, Golfing Certificates, Gift Baskets, and Massage Certificates are just a few of the fun things to bid on.

Salem’s Jewelry in Marble Falls has donated a Sterling Silver with 18K Gold Blue Topaz and Peridot Necklace and Earring set that some lucky winner will take home this Saturday. One hundred $20 “Bauble in a Bubble” chances will be sold at the Wild Game Dinner. Players have a chance to win two other great jewelry pieces and everyone takes home a pink camo koozie!

Proceeds benefit the Blanco County Youth Livestock Show Sale. For more information, call 830-833-5335 or online lbjcountry.com.
