The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, September 29th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 39 members and 1 visitor in attendance. Among the visitors were 2 Mason High School Seniors, Omar Martinez and Jeremi Durante.

Lion Brent Drennan was responsible for the program and he introduced Matt Underwood, Superintendent., Mason I.S.D. who spoke about the "State of the District". Mr. Underwood showed a power-point presentation pointing out the school budget figures, the grants that were received, the awards that the school got from T.E.A., the awards the faculty received, the goals and plans for future improvement of the facilities, and the total enrollment for the year and how it compared to previous years. He answered some questions at the end of the presentation.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, October 6th, at noon at Zavala's. The program will be the monthly business meeting.

The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
