October 24 Set as Rain Check Date for Washer Pitchin’ Tournament
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 • Posted October 7, 2009

Rain washed out the earlier date set for the 4th Annual Mason Education Foundation’s Washer Pitchin’ Tournament and Barbeque. To insure against further washouts, the event has been moved to the Community Building at Fort Mason Park, on Saturday, October 24.

Registration for the single-elimination tournament begins at 3:30 and closes at 4:15 p.m. The entry fee is $60.00 per two-person team. Bidding on teams begins at 4:30, with Jeff Owen as auctioneer. The competition starts at 5:00 p.m.

You don’t have to be a participant to enjoy the rivalry. Cheering fans are needed!

Serving begins at 6:30 for the meal, barbeque with all the trimmings, prepared by Chef Lee McMillan. The meal is by donation only and there will be plenty of drinks and lots of desserts.

Following the feast, Jeff Owen swings into action again for a live auction. Next week’s paper will feature a preview of these much-to-be-coveted items.

The mission of the Mason Education Foundation is to raise money for school programs not funded through tax dollars. All money generated by this event will go to finance local grants, applied for by teachers to supplement their regular classroom programs. These additional resources enrich and expand current programs and promote the District’s mission of excellence in education.
