Mason vs. Christoval
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 • Posted October 7, 2009

Our Punchers, who have played six highly competitive games in a row will finally hit a soft spot on the schedule as they travel to Christoval Friday night. Here is what we know about the Cougars.

The drive to Christoval is probably one of the more scenic drives on the schedule. Their girls basketball program is pretty good. They have a great concession stand and oh ya.................... their football team has scored only two touchdowns all year. Their defense has given up 269 points. They are currently ranked 159th in the State, last in our region and are in sole possession of the basement in District 29 with an overall record of 0-6. It is pretty obvious that Christoval is in a rebuilding mode and I like our Punchers big this week!

Now that does not give the armchair quarterbacks out there much to chew on this week so let me throw a few things out there to kick around.

With only four games remaining it appears Mason and Junction are on a collision course to play for the District Championship. The game will be played October 30th at the Puncherdome..........When was the last time the Punchers ran the table and won the district outright?..........With the playoffs on the horizon we need to start to pay attention to who our possible opponents may be. In the first round we could potentially play La Pryor or D’Hanis out of District 30. In the second round it looks like we would be facing #5 Falls City out of District 31. After that it is anybody’s guess.......... David Mora already has my vote as the newcomer of the year. Who was the last great Puncher sophomore running back to burst on to the scene?.............Our Punchers are currently ranked #12 in the state..........GO PUNCHERS!!!!
