The Fine Arts Association will have their second workshop for the year on Friday, October 14, 2009 at Rancho Rimar.

A welding workshop by Riley Kothmann, beginning at 10 a.m., will include a discussion of the various types of welding and the applications of each, followed by the proper welding equipment and safety equipment used. Finally, a short demonstration of arc welding will be given. Participants will have an opportunity to dun a welding helmet to practice what they’ve learned.

We will break for lunch. Please bring a sack lunch, drinks and dessert will be provided.

Starting at 1 p.m., Nan Loeffler will give us an introduction to soldering, including a discussion and demo by the artist. Nan’s whimsical jewelry is carried in several Galleries in Texas. Participants can make a small pair of silver earrings for a fee of $20.00 to cover silver and supplies.

You must be a member of the FAAHC to attend these two workshops. To join the FAAHC requires a $25.00 membership fee. There are wonderful workshops, programs(FAAHC Christmas Dinner and show), and two art shows(The 5X7Scholarship show and sale on November 7 and the May Art Show and Sale) scheduled for the 2009/10 year. Please contact Judy Uherek, (325) 265-4480,, to become a new member.
