Mason Shuts Down Christoval 67-7

Sometimes, one team so dominates another on the field of play that commentary does not do the game justice. Such was the matchup Friday evening between the Mason Punchers and the Christoval Cougars.

As such, we present the scoring summary and game statistics, which tell the entire story.

First Quarter:

Ethan Holland scored on a six-yard pass from Justin Yonker and Joaquin Mejia kicked the extra point, 7-0.

Garrett Rice scored on a six yard pass from Yonker, Mejia again kicked the extra point, 14-0.

Zach Hudson scored on a 30-yard run and Mejia kicked the extra point, 21-0.

David Mora scored on a 44-yard run, 27-0.

Second Quarter:

Garrett Rice scored on a 27-yard pass from Yonker, Mejia kicked the extra point, 34-0.

David Mora scored on a 21-yard run, 40-0.

Third Quarter:

David Mora scored on an 83-yard kickoff return, Mejia kicked the extra point, 47-0.

Justin Yonker scored on a 1-yard dive, Tyler Chew kicked the extra point, 54-0.

Fourth Quarter:

Christoval's Issac Salazar scored on a two-yard pass from Justin Chipman, Aris Solwin kicked the extra point, 54-7.

David Mora scored on a 25-yard run followed by a Tyler Chew kick, 61-7.

David Mora scored on a 49-yard punt return, 67-7.

Mason had 324 yards rushing on 22 attempts to Christovals 97 yards on 23 attempts.

Mason had 199 yards passing to Christoval's 14.

David Mora had nine carries for 145 yards.

Zach Hudson had seven carries for 107 yards. Justin Yonker had two carries for 42 yards. Ethan Hudson had two carries for 22 yards. Jeremy Hamilton had two carries for 8 yards.

This week, Mason will host the Irion County team at Puncher Stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
