It’s all around us.

It’s also down the road apiece.

As in the town: Art, Texas.

This coming Saturday it’s gonna be all around the square.

The 3rd Annual Starving Artist Show.

If you like art, don’t miss it.

The sidewalks will be crowded with artists selling their work.

Oil and watercolor paintings.

Sketches and drawings.

Photography and ceramics.

A little bit of everything.

If you don’t like art, come anyway.

All the shops will be open.

So will the cafes.

And we have three of them on the square.

Willow Creek Café.

The Cat’s Meow.

Square Plate.

Just south of the square is Santos Taqueria.

And next door is Sandstone Cellars Winery.

Three blocks north of the square is Northside Café.

Don’t miss it.

So stroll around.

Work up an appetite.

Work up a thirst.

Buy some original artwork.

Browse all the many shops.

Head northwest off the square for even more treasures.

The Thing Is.

Country Collectibles.

Lone Star Trading Post.

Community Thrift Store.

Keep on going.

You’ll discover Texas Deadwood BBQ on the left.

Oh yeah.

Lots to do and see and buy and eat and drink.

And Saturday’s the day.

October 24th.

Stick around for the Mason Education Foundation fundraiser.

At the Community Park south of town off Hwy 87.

Barbecue and a washer pitchin’ tournament.

Register your teams at 3:30.

Tournament starts at 5:30.

Barbecue at 6:30.

Plenty of fun and games.

And all for a good cause.

That’s Mason.

Renee Walker is a poet, writer, and real estate broker on the Square.
