Wednesday, October 28, 2009 • Posted October 28, 2009

Operation Orphans, Inc. will begin its 50th year of the "Take a Child Hunting" program, Friday, October 30th. Girls from five Texas children's facilities and foster homes will arrive at Camp Gene Ashby eagerly awaiting their hunt Saturday. The girls and their guides will hunt whitetail does on ten area ranches.

The "Take a Child Hunting" program will have four additional hunts November 21, December 5, December 12, and January 9. These hunts will be for boys.

Since 1960, Operation Orphans, Inc. has offered less fortunate children an opportunity to enjoy the joys and responsibilities of deer hunting in the Texas hill country.

Additional information about Operation Orphans, Inc. and the "Take a Child Hunting" program may be found on the web at www.operationorphans.org or by contacting Jerry or Lyla Crouch, Camp Supervisors, 325-347-6745.
