JV Punchers Defeat Center Point
Wednesday, October 28, 2009 • Posted October 28, 2009

The Center Point Pirates JV squad visited the Puncher Dome last Thursday night to take on the JV Punchers as both teams were searching for a replacement game for a district opponent. The Pirates were overwhelmed by the Punchers with the final score reading 50 – 0 in favor of the Punchers.

The Punchers were looking to improve certain areas of their overall game offensively, which led to three Austin Trip touchdown passes on the night: one to Andy Duarte, one to Zen Steward, and one to T.J. Schovasja. Trip would bust a long touchdown run as well to help add to the lead. Rio Schmidt would also add two rushing scores on the night, and cap off the scoring with a 22 yard field goal in the 4th quarter. Clay Walker also added to the Puncher scoring on the night with a 46 yard touchdown run at the end of the first half to put the Punchers in command of the game.

The defense was again stifling, as the Pirates struggled to move the chains against the aggressive and punishing play of Nic Navarette, Zane Graves, Korey Zavala, Mike Williams, Briggs Jones, Austin Trip, Winston Trip, Jake Newsom, Robbie Lucero, Bodie Adams, Matt Clark, Brandon Gomez, and Andy Duarte. The Puncher defense has been dominate all year and looks to continue this trend over the last two weeks of the season.

The Punchers will travel to Junction this Thursday night to take on the Eagles in the final district contest. The JV game will immediately follow the JH game which starts at 5:30. We look forward to seeing all of the Puncher faithful in attendance, ready to cheer us on to victory.
