JV Defeats Junction Again
Wednesday, November 11, 2009 • Posted November 11, 2009

The JV Punchers faced a familiar foe in their season finale, taking on the Junction Eagles for the second time in as many weeks. Despite a change in venue, the result of the game was the same, with the Punchers coming out on top 33 – 14.

The Punchers wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard in this contest as Austin Trip connected with Zen Steward on a pair of opening quarter touchdown passes that put the Punchers in the lead, 14 – 0. Rio Schmidt also added a touchdown run on the night, followed by two Clay Walker touchdown runs, the latter of which would slam the door shut for good on any hope for an Eagle comeback. The offense rebounded nicely from last week to end the season with an excellent performance.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Punchers continued to excel just as they have all year. The defense was the strength of the team all year long and was strong again Thursday night, hardly allowing an Eagle drive into Puncher territory until the final quarter of play. They did a superb job of executing their assignments and getting to the football to make big stops and put the offense in great positions to score.

The JV Punchers and coaching staff would like to thank the community for all of their support throughout the regular season and beyond as we will continue to help out the varsity on their playoff run. We will be accompanying the varsity to all of the playoff games to get an early feel of the playoff atmosphere. We look forward to seeing you all at the first playoff game.
