Mrs. Bourgeois reports Wellness Center is prepared

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) reported the top 20 worldwide fitness trends for 2010, and Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center Director Dawn Bourgeois said the local fitness and aquatic club offers them all.

The ACSM Health and Fitness Journal reported the trends are based on surveys completed by 1,477 ACSM Certified Personal Trainers, ACSM Health/Fitness Instructors, ACSM Exercise Specialists, ACSM Health/Fitness Directors and ACSM Program Directors.

Ms. Bourgeois said the Wellness Center has been able to stay ahead of trends by maintaining a holistic approach to fitness.

"Achieving health goals is about more than walking on the treadmill," she said. "It’s important to assess one’s overall needs and determine a comprehensive fitness plan. That means as a club we have the challenge of ensuring a wide-range of options, so we can help our members strengthen muscles, stamina, vitality and their longevity. I believe our comprehensive approach is how we’ve managed to stay ahead of the field."

She also credited the Wellness Center fitness professionals.

"Our greatest strength, which topped this list of trends, is that we have educated and experienced fitness professionals who provide results-driven instruction on everything from child obesity to strength training," she said. "Someone needing expert fitness options can feel confident when they step foot into our facility that their needs will be met."
