For the last several years, at the end of one year and the beginning of another, we've provided a year-end recap of events. We do this by reprinting the front pages from the prior year's papers, at reduced size, as a reminder of the events that transpired.
This year, some people apparently missed our explanation of the covers and called to complain about the small type we were using. With several callers, no amount of explaining was successful, and some made it very clear that they could not, and would not, read the paper if we kept the font size that small.
Please accept our apologies for any misunderstandings; but, also know that most of the readers find this method of reviewing the year a quick and easy way to "catch up." We will have a few more covers in this issue, and most likely a few more in next week's issue, before moving on to 2010.
Mason, during the holiday season, is a very quiet place where events are celebrated by families in the privacy of their homes. News stories are few and far between, so this is the only time we feel compelled to drop in such big "filler" pieces. We will work on finding more original photos and articles to keep you informed and entertained.
