Philharmonisches Bläserquintett Berlin in Kerrville
Wednesday, January 13, 2010 • Posted January 13, 2010

(Kerrville, TX) –

Founded in 1988, the Philharmonisches Bläserquintett Berlin (www.windquintet.com), is the first permanently established wind quintet in the famous orchestra’s rich tradition of chamber music.

The ensemble’s commitment to the wind quintet repertoire is passionate and in 1991 they found the perfect partner for their recording plans, the Swedish company BIS Records, already well known in its own right for its uncompromising standards. The results of this long and exclusive collaboration have received critical accolades worldwide – indeed many of these recordings are already widely held to be "definitive" or "reference" performances.

In addition to their concert appearances throughout Europe, North and South America, Israel, Australia and the Far East, the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet are also popular guests at international festivals such as the Berliner Festwochen, the Edinburgh Festival, the London Proms, the Quintette-Biennale Marseille, the Rheingau Festival and the Salzburg Festival. Their television productions and radio broadcasts are seen and heard throughout Europe, Asia and North America.

The Kerrville Performing Arts Society has already received ticket requests from Houston, Dallas and San Antonio…recognizing the incredible opportunity to attend a performance by the quintet that has been reviewed worldwide.

"Breathtakingly perfect…an astonishing experience."

"Superlative music making…dazzingly virtuosic."

"A beautifully turned performance…vividly evocative."

The two evening performances and a Master Class are made possible through the generosity and support of the Masel S. Quinn Foundation. Additional funding is received from Mid-America Arts Alliance with generous underwriting by the National Endowment for the Arts, Texas Commission on the Arts, and foundations, corporations and individuals throughout Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.

KPAS (www.kpas.org) is most fortunate to be hosting this world-renown Woodwind Quintet at Kerrville’s Cailloux Theater on Tuesday, January 26th and Thursday, January 28th. Both performances will be at 7:30pm. Tickets are available now at the Box Office (830-896-9393) and range in price from $25-$45.
