Wednesday, January 13, 2010 • Posted January 13, 2010

Hill Country residents who want to complete a college degree can learn more about local opportunities at an information session on Thursday, January 14, at 5:30 pm at Fredericksburg High School, Room 213, 1107 Hwy 16S in Fredericksburg. All interested students are invited to attend. Bring unofficial transcripts of prior college work and plan to talk to an advisor.

Texas Tech University (TTU) at Fredericksburg is a partner in the Hill Country University Center (HCUC) and offers three different bachelor degree programs to meet students’ goals and needs.

The newest degree program is the Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies degree for Early Childhood through 4th grade teacher certification, with a focus on all-level Special Education. The first cohort in this program will begin in Fall 2010. The same degree program with a focus on English as a Second Language is currently being offered as well.

TTU also offers the Bachelor of General Studies degree in which students complete three areas of concentration. Areas available are English, History, Psychology, Sociology, Communication Studies, General Business, and Restaurant, Hotel, and Institution Management.

Texas Tech will admit students who have completed 45 hours of core curriculum at ACC or another college and meet GPA requirements into either of these programs to complete their bachelor degree. Students who have fewer hours can start working at ACC to take the core curriculum classes prior to transferring to TTU.

For more information about the session on January 14 or about these degree programs, call Texas Tech University at Fredericksburg at 830-990-2717.
