Mason Punchers vs. Miles Bulldogs

On Friday, Jan 15, the Mason Punchers, with their first district game at home, had to battle the Miles Bulldogs, who were predicted to win the district.

After tipoff and for the next two minutes the game went scoreless until senior Jeremy Hamilton of Mason, with assistance of senior Ethan Holland, kicked the game off with the first two points of the game.

From then on it was back and forth scoring with the Punchers leading in the end of the 1st 15 -10. The 2nd was much like the 1st quarter’s scoring with the Punchers leading at the end of the half 24-19. Junior Ethan Hudson led the offensive rebounds and senior Justin Yonker led with defensive rebounds for the 1st half.

Coming out into the 3rd the Punchers knew the Bulldogs would be out for vengeance. The Bulldogs quickly gained momentum and for the first time in the game took the lead. The Bulldogs continued to lead until the end of the 3rd with the score being 35-40 in Miles favor.

With the start of the 4th the Punchers knew they had to focus and keep their intensity if they wanted to come out victorious. The Punchers soon caught up with Miles and took the lead with sophomore Chance Stockbridge knocking down 3 three point shots. This quickly brought up the team's morale.

The Punchers dominated the rest of the game offensively and defensively beating the Bulldogs 57-50. The Punchers will play at home Jan 19th against the Eldorado Eagles.
