The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, January 26th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 39 members and 7 visitors in attendance. Among the visitors were 2 Mason High School Seniors, Leticia Jaramillo and Treysi Vega.
Lion Fritz Landers was responsible for the program and introduced Gabe Jennings who spoke about the 2009 Youth Range Camp. The Camp is in its 55th year, being founded by Roger Q. Landers in 1954. Dr. Byron Rector is in his 30th year as Director of the Range Club. The Camp is held each summer in Junction, Texas at the Texas Tech Ag-Junction. This summers Camp will be held from June 20-25th for boys and girls age 14-17 years of age. Anyone interested in attending can contact Brent Drennan, Local County Agent.
Gabe said he thoroughly enjoyed his time at Range Camp, although he only got about 6 hours sleep per night. Gabe was selected to present his program at the National Range Convention in Denver, Colo. on February 6th.
The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, February 2nd, at noon at Zavala's. The program will be the monthly business meeting.
The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
