We had a great Sunday with almost warm weather. And then a cold front came and nights will be close to freezing all week. The rain was great but a few dry days are even better.

Amber Sanders will be nine years old on February 19th and Sam Jordan Hoerster will be three years old on February 22nd. Ella Mae Hall will also celebrate her birthday on February 22nd. And both Vondell Jordan and Jennifer Hitzfelder will have birthday parties on February 25th. And Paul and Sara Dixon will celebrate their third anniversary on February 24th. Have a great day and stay warm.

Our sincere condolences go to the family of Clarence Simon who passed away last week. We especially remember his wife Louise and his stepdaughter Frances Toeppich in this time of sorrow.

We also offer our sympathy to the Tim Wente family after the death of their young daughter Addison.

Prayers were requested for Ella Reynolds as she recovers from injuries received in a car accident in Austin. Ella is a "sister" of Julia Jordan, wife of Stuart Jordan. Also pray for Carolyn Vater as she has surgery on Friday. Keep Bill Willis in your prayers. Continue to pray for Andrew Kothmann and Etta Marie Mutschink.

The first Lenten luncheon will be at the River of Life Church on the 17th. The February 24th lunch will be at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Art UMC will serve lunch on March 3rd at the River of Life Church. Ladies are to sign up to provide needed food items. Check with Susie Jordan to help.

The District UMW meeting will be held on Saturday, February 20th beginning at 9:30 a.m. RSVP to Susie Jordan if you plan to attend. The Art Men’s Choir will provide special music.

The attendance at Sunday’s service was described as "sparse".

"Looking for His Glory" was the title of Rev. Krause’s sermon. The Gospel scripture was from Luke 9:28-36. Jesus took Peter, James and John up into the mountain to pray. As He prayed, His countenance was altered and His clothing became dazzling white. And two men, Moses and Elijah, were conversing with Him. They appeared in splendor and majesty and brightness. They were talking about the events that were going to happen to Jesus – His death, His resurrection, His appearances on Earth and His final ascension into Heaven.

When Peter and the others, who had been asleep, were fully awake, they saw the glory and the two men with Him. Peter, not knowing what he was saying but inspired by the delight of the event, suggested that they build three structures – one for Jesus, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

As Peter was speaking, a cloud overshadowed them, causing much fear and alarm. Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying "This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to and yield to and obey Him."

And when the voice died away, Jesus was alone with Peter, John and James. They kept still, and told no one at that time any of these things that they had seen.

We see the glory of God, His splendor, His creation. We glorify God with worship, praise and honor. We see the glory of His creation in the sunset, a baby’s face, a rainbow. Peter, John and James heard the voice of God coming out of a cloud. It was over quickly.

Let the glory of God shine in your eyes. Let it shine in your works. Look for the glory of God wherever you go.
