The Central Texas College (CTC) extension campus in Brady, TX will begin testing for admittance to its vocational nursing program in February. A new entrance exam is being administered this year. The Health Education Systems, Inc. Admission Assessment (HESI A2) exam replaces the NET exam of year’s past. However, previous passing NET scores will be honored this year.
While the new HESI A2 test has five sections, CTC will test applicants only in the vocabulary and general knowledge, reading comprehension and basic math skills portions of the exam for admittance to the program.
Anyone registering for the exam must submit documentation of their TSI-exempt status or passing scores from the THEA (TASP), ACT ASSET, ACCUPLACER or COMPASS tests. Applicants must also submit the $30 application fee in advance. The fee can be paid by check or money order made out to Central Texas College Testing and sent along with the applicant’s name, address and day-time phone number to CTC Vocational Nursing, P.O. Box 1150, Brady, TX 76825.
Testing dates will be established as groups of applicants complete the required testing. CTC will test in groups of three applicants and eligible applicants will be signed up for the next available test date. If someone has to make major travel plans they should contact CTC for specific information. Testing will begin at 9 a.m. on each established test date and conducted in the CTC nursing lab/library in Brady.
