Wednesday, March 24, 2010 • Posted March 24, 2010

The Texas Topaz Day celebration is well on its way to becoming an annual celebration of faceting in the state. A number of gem faceters will be here-faceters that are famous in our little world.

Gary Worden, who with his brother designed the Lone Star cut. Charles Coville, an Austin cutter that has written many faceting books, including one with 200 designs with stars. Charles faceted the 500+ topaz down at Country Collectibles. Dalan Hargrave, who is one of the most famous faceters in the country, is a Texan with his own trademarked star cut.

There are other faceters and rockhounders that plan to be here as well. Some are bringing display gems, some are bringing their own gems to sell.

If you want to rub elbows with some of the names in Texas topaz, be here. Or come for the tamales and beer.

Gems of the Hill Country will be hosting the Texas Topaz Day events. They are located on the historic Mason square at 126 Ft. McKavitt St., in the Ft. Mason Real Estate building, immediately next door to the Mason Square Museum.
