The 60th annual Easter Pageant will be presented in Junction under the stars at the amphitheater under Lover’s Leap beginning at dark, approximately 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 3.
More than 70 volunteer actors, wearing brightly colored costumes, will portray the story of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The cast and crew are comprised of people from all facets of thecommunity: bankers, nurses, carpenters, and housewives, just to name a few. These individuals have dedicated countless hours of their time to keep this tradition alive.
In addition to the actors, there are many others that work behind the scenes to bring this production to life. These include a director, narrators, lighting specialists, sound technicians, and groundskeepers.
Pageant participants wish to stay anonymous in hopes that viewers will remain focused on the Biblical characters and on the purpose of bringing renewed faith to all those who attend the presentation.
The Easter Pageant also relies on the support of local organizations. The local Boy Scouts assist with parking and handing out programs the night of the pageant.
The City of Junction provides a generous donation from tourism funds each year for advertising and equipment expenses. The Kimble County Chamber of Commerce provides information to anyone planning to visit the Junction area. There is no charge for admission. However, donations are accepted during intermission to help cover the costs of maintaining the amphitheater, props and costumes.
