The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, March 23rd, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 37 members and 3 visitors in attendance.
Lion Jack Lee was responsible for the program and introduced Scott Zesch, along with Tom Titus and Tony Plutino who spoke about their trip to Mitua, Kenya, Africa. These local men went in January to the village of Brigadia in Mutia. They met with the African Civic leaders to discuss and identify groups in the region that might benefit from partnering with groups from Mason. These men toured several farms and met with leaders of the Girls Secondary School, Mutia Maziwa Women's Group, and groups caring for Aids orphans. These men said although the living conditions were rather primitive, they had better cell phone service than Mason.
The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, March 30th, at noon at Zavala's.
The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
