Soil & Water Conservation District Announces Mason County Poster and Essay Winners

Mason County Soil & Water Conservation District participates each year in the Texas Conservation Awards Program. The poster contest is open to students 12 years old and under. This year’s theme for posters and essays was "Conservation Habits = Healthy Habitats." Over 250 posters were submitted and 43 essays. Prizes were awarded according to age group. Poster winner in the K-1 age group was Jose Valdez; 2nd-3rd grade group, Sydney Anderson; and 4th-5th grade group, Mikaela Crocker, all at Mason Elementary and Junior High. All winners received a t-shirt, ribbon and free movie pass.

Patrice Searsy was also awarded a t-shirt and lunch for 2 at the Square Plate for her wonderful support and hard work during this contest.

Essay contest winners were Bailee Everett – 14-18 age group, and Amber McGowan, age 13 & under. Bailee attends Grace Christian School and Amber attends Mason Junior High.

The Mason County SWCD Board wishes to thank ALL students who participated in this yearly program for doing such an outstanding job of creating and writing!
