The Fredericksburg Tea Party is encouraging all citizens that have "Had Enough" of an unconstrained federal government to join the Tax Day Tea Party Rally on April 15, 2010. Washington D.C. continues to turn a deaf-ear to its constituents and believes that it can spend its way out of debt. The Tea Party movement promotes sound fiscal conservatism and a return to the principles of the Constitution of the United States.
The event will begin with a peaceful protest at the corner of Main Street and Adams Street at 11:30 a.m. Interested participants are encouraged to bring signage that speaks to unrestrained government growth, reckless federal spending, and unconstitutional healthcare takeover.
At 12:00 p.m., the rally will move to the Marktplatz pavilion. The key-note speaker for the event will be Jonathan Saenz from Liberty Institute and music will be provided by Sentimental Journey. The Tea Party Essay contest winners will present their winning essays and community leaders will share their varied perspectives on the state of the nation.
Information will be available to encourage citizens in three areas: "Educate, Activate and Hold Accountable". To be born in the United States is a privilege and to serve as a leader at any level of government is also a privilege. As Rev. James A. Garfield(1831-1888) said, "The People are responsible for the character of their Congress…..If the next centennial does not find us a great nation….it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces."
For those attending, FREE hotdogs and cold drinks will be served.
The vision of the Fredericksburg Tea Party is to develop educated voters, who through civic involvement, open discussion, and peaceful assembly will understand the issues affecting our society on a local, state, and national level, and will take appropriate action to positively impact the leadership and citizens of the United States. Tea Parties from around the country will rally together around this same vision. Additional information about this event can be found at www.fredericksburgteaparty.org.
