Mason Independent School District is in the process of applying for Federal funds: Title I, Part A; Title I, Part C; Title II, Part A; Title II, Part D; Title III, Part A; Title IV, Part A; and Special Education. These funds supplement the Mason ISD regular education program and ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. The public is invited to view the Standard Application System and express their views regarding the development and design of the program.
The district will have several meetings to discuss Federal funds, parental involvement, professional development, staffing needs, and the standard application process. The public is invited to attend any of these meetings and can call the central office at 347-1144 for more information. The District Education Improvement Committee is composed of a wide range of individuals including parents, community and business members, administrators, and teachers to allow for greater input. This committee will hold their annual planning meeting Tuesday, April 27, at 5:00 in the high school library.
Each campus will conduct their own planning sessions during their individual Campus Education Improvement Committee meetings. The High School meeting is scheduled for April 6, the JH School meeting April 15, and the Elementary School meeting April 12.
Additionally, the Families Together Night is scheduled for May 11, 2010 in conjunction with the spring Book Fair. The Title I Parental Involvement meeting will be held during this event starting at 6:00 p.m. in room #139 on the Mason Elementary School campus. Programs, activities, and procedures for the involvement of parents in Title I, Part A programs are imperative. The purpose of this meeting is to evaluate parental involvement, establish strategies for greater parental involvement, identify barriers, explain the Title I, Part A program, and encourage parental input regarding planning, design, and implementation of Title programs for the 2010-2011 school year. Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting to familiarize themselves with the opportunities available for their children and to make suggestions to better the program.
