The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, March 30th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 38 members and 4 visitors in attendance. Among the visitors were 2 Grace Christian School Seniors, Colt Lyons and Ashley Piper.
Lion Lee McMillan was responsible for the program and he spoke about the proposed "CREZ" transmission line to be built through Mason County. He talked about the efforts of the Texas Hill Country Heritage Association to defeat this proposal. Then, County Judge Jerry Bearden, spoke about the work the County and City, along with the Sub-Regional Planning Committee had done in their effort to make sure all laws and regulations were adhered to by the L.C.R.A. and P.U.C. in their decision as to the route this proposed line would take. Questions were taken from the floor by Judge Bearden and Lee.
The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, April 6th, at noon at Zavala's. The program will be the monthly business meeting.
The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
