The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, April 6th, for its monthly business meeting. There were 41 members and 1 visitor in attendance.

"Boss" Lion Chris Dyer was responsible for the program and Sec./Tres. Gene Cammill read the minutes and gave the Financial Report.

Lion Gayland Thorn gave a power-point presentation about the future of the 5K-10K Walk/Run the Lions Club Sponsors each year. It was agreed that all wanted to keep sponsoring this event, so some committees needed to be formed and some members needed to volunteer to be on these committees, since Eva and Tom Tannehill and about 6 members were the main workers these past 3 years. Some work has already begun by Eva and more needs to get started right away for this years event, which is scheduled for Oct. 2. There were several members ready to volunteer, so they were getting with Eva to see what needed to be done and when. Everyone will try to help out in some way to keep this event going since it has made the club about $14,000 that has been given the past three years to local charities and organizations.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, April 13th, at noon at Zavala's. The program will be Chris Schulze.

The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
