MHS Students Continue Academic Competition in Austin

Three Mason High School students will be in Austin May 6th through 8th for UIL State academic contests. Sophomore Star Longoria and junior Jenny Smith will compete in Prose Reading while senior Michael McGowan is competing in Literary Criticism.

Prose reading will begin with prelims on Friday, May 7th at 8:00 a.m. Finals for prose will be on Saturday the 8th. The literary criticism contest will be held Saturday, May 8th at 10:30.

Glendene Underwood is the coach for literary criticism and Jacki Maenius works with MHS oral readers. Gay Nesloney, academic coordinator, will accompany the MHS students to Austin.
