Hill Country Memorial (HCM) employees will donate personal items to sell in a garage sale, and the items will not be priced—buyers will be asked to simply make a donation for the exchange to benefit the Hill Country Community Needs Council.
The event will be Saturday, May 22, from 8 a.m. to noon, in the parking lot at the corner of Reuben St. and Windcrest St. in Fredericksburg, behind Quality Inn.
HCM Director of Care Coordination Sheila Schmidt, RN, said the event is an opportunity for hospital employees to support another community organization. "The Community Needs Council has a long history of assisting people in this area, and we’re glad to help them," she said.
The Community Needs Council volunteer services include: transportation to medical care, referral services, family violence support, senior citizen interaction, financial management counseling, and parenting education.
Ms. Schmidt is optimistic the event will offer something for everyone. "I expect hospital employees to contribute great items, shoppers will walk away with something they want for the perfect value, and a great organization will benefit," Ms. Schmidt said. "The only other thing we can hope for is a sunny day."
