Kids can learn golf as early as age six from a PGA member.
Edwin Dickens, Class A member of the Professional Golfers Association of America, will offer golf lessons to children ages six through 15 at the Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center PGA Indoor Golf Studio this summer.
In classes limited to 10 student golfers, Dickens will coach golf basics, rules and etiquette. "They’ll get an understanding for golf fundamentals, so they can enjoy it and perhaps begin a lifetime love for the sport," he said.
The cost is $10 per class, with four classes in a session, for a total of $40 per child. The classes are divided into two age groups: Li’l Sports Golf Camp is for kids age six to 10, and Jr. Golf Academy is for kids age 11 to 15. Three sessions are being offered for each age range, and children may sign up for more than one session.
Anyone interested may call the Wellness Center and register at (830) 997-1355. Dickens said payment must be received at registration.
The Wellness Center Golf Studio opened in April, and it is an official PGA-recognized indoor golf facility.
