Mother’s Day was really special in Art. We had three vases with flowers and there were red and white carnations for everyone in honor and memory of their mother.

Rev. Krause’s sermon was titled "A Women of Strong Faith". The scripture comes from Acts 16:9-15. This lesson describes the vision Paul had on the way to Troas. In the vision, a man was pleading with Paul to come to Macedonia and help the people there. Paul and Luke immediately knew that God had called them to go to Macedonia and proclaim the glad tidings to them. They sailed from Troas to Samothrace and the next day, they went to Neapolis. From there, they traveled to Philippi, the chief city of the district of Macedonia They stayed there for several days.
On the Sabbath day, they went outside of the cities gates to the bank of the river. There, in a place where people went to pray, they sat down and addressed the women who had assembled there.
One of those who listened to Paul and Luke was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was from Thyatira and already was a worshiper of God, The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what Paul and Luke said.
She and her household were baptized. She said to Paul "If, in your opinion, I am one really convinced that Jesus is the Messiah and the Author of salvation and that I will be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay. They believed her and stayed.
Paul and Luke had been led by God to travel a long and difficult journey to meet a woman of great faith. This was the way the early church was started. Small groups of believers would meet in homes weekly. Then the people would gather in larger groups for study and prayer. These larger groups would break up into smaller groups and travel the country-side spreading the message of salvation.
There are many examples of strong women in the Bible. They influence their families daily, teaching about God, telling the story of Jesus, setting the example for children to follow.
God is in our lives every day. He calls us to do His will as we meet other people. God is love. Spread the Word, Spread the love of God. Be an example in all that you do. Show your love of God.
