Grandsons of Masonites Graduate

Two grandsons of Olga Mesa and Aurelio Mesa graduated recently.

Nikolas Balderaz (left), graduated on Friday evening, May 14, 2010 from Amarillo College with a degree of Associate of Science in Psychology. Nick's scholastic achievement was half a point away from graduating with the honors of Cum Laude. The commencement exercises were held at 7 o'clock in the evening at the Carl Farley Coliseum at Amarillo Civic Center. Nick is a 1997 graduate of Mason High School and the son of Juan and Sophia Balderaz (formerly Sophia Mesa) of Hereford, Texas. An evening reception was hosted afterwards by his fiancé, Daisy, in the home of her family.

Lucas Daniel Velez (right) graduated on Saturday morning, May 15, 2010 from Texas Tech University, College of Mass Communications, in Lubbock. The commencement ceremony was held at The United Spirit Arena. Lucas graduated with a Bachelor of Public Relations. His parents are Roman Velez, Jr. and Phyliss Velez (formerly Phyliss Mesa) of Christoval, Texas. They hosted a luncheon for the family afterwards in a local area restaurant in Lubbock. Lucas is a 2005 graduate from Lake View High School in San Angelo. He is also the grandson of Roman Velez, Sr. of Mason.

Attending from Mason was their grandmother, Olga; Aunt Lucy Delgado, Uncle Juan Mesa; and Uncle Fabian (a Texas Tech Alumni) and Aunt Becky Mesa and son Gabriel of Austin. Cousins who attended were Celsi and Jose Delgado and Jorge and Joel Mesa.

Also attending were Lucas' uncle and aunt Valentin and Letty Velez and son Coby of Mason.
