Get ready for Memorial Day. It’s only a week away. Pray for rain.

The only thing I have on my calendar this week is the 17th anniversary of my daughter’s wedding. Lisa and William Howard were married in the Art UMC and now are living in their first home after many years of apartment life. Celebrate your anniversary and the new home this week.

It was great to have Nea Young home from her travels and it is always good to have Bob and Joanne Davee worship with us.

Continue to pray for Andrew Kothmann. He really enjoys your phone calls and cards. Pray for healing for Anna Grace Durst, Hunter Geistweidt, Wayne Lehmberg, and Jane Krause. And Kathy Jordan is having knee surgery on Wednesday morning. Pray for everyone.

Next Sunday at 7:00 p.m., the 5th Sunday Sing will be held at The River of Life Church. Come and have joyous time. The Art Men’s Choir and Bill Cotter will provide Art’s part of the program. And the cookies and punch are always great.

Rev. Krause’s Pentecost sermon, titled "Led by the Spirit", was inspired by the lesson from Acts 2:1-21and was the fulfillment of the prophesy in Joel 2:28-32.

Pentecost comes on the seventh Sunday after Easter. The disciples were assembled together in one place when suddenly, a violent blast from Heaven filled the house and there appeared tongues of fire that separated and settled on each one there. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak clearly each one in their own native language. They were amazed and puzzled, wondered how this was happening. Some suggested that they may be drunk.

Peter, standing with the eleven disciples, told the crowd that this was the beginning of what the prophet Joel had said. In the last days, God would pour out His Spirit on all mankind. They and their daughters would prophesy and their sons would see visions and their old men would dream dreams.

And God would pour out His Spirit on all servants and they would prophesy about the divine counsels and future events pertaining especially to God’s kingdom. Peter continued to explain Joel’s prophesy by saying that God would show wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth beneath, blood, and fire and smoking vapors. The sun would be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before that great and notable and conspicuous and renowned day. And whosoever that calls on the name of the Lord would be saved.

This was the message that those men who had received the Holy Spirit were to tell the world as they went out into the world. God’s love is for everyone. We are to do God’s will by asking the Holy spirit to come into our lives, believing in God’s power and being willing to do God’s work wherever He calls us to go.

We are all included in God’s truth and find truth in God’s power and love. We live in Christ because He lives in us. Accept His word and believe that he is your Savior.
