The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, May 25th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 36 members and 4 visitors in attendance.

Lion Glenn Ruthven was responsible for the program and introduced Melinda Biggs of the Texas Dental Association who spoke about the Texas Smiles Program. Mason will host the "Smiles On Wheels" Program on Saturday July 31 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. This is a 1-day event where several dentists and numerous other volunteers will do cleanings, extractions and fillings for all ages. More information will be coming later or you can contact Dr. Glenn Ruthven.

The Lions are getting some good use from the New Pedia-Vision Machine. They screened 80 Pre-K and Kindergarten students in Mason and had 6 referrals to the eye doctors.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 1st, at noon at Zavala's. The program will be the monthly business meeting.

The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
