Summer Food Program at First United Methodist Church
Wednesday, June 9, 2010 • Posted June 9, 2010

The Summer Nutrition Program sponsored by Mason I.S.D will serve nutritious meals through June. When that program ends, a similar program will begin in July at the First United Methodist Church in Mason. Anyone 18 years old and under will be able to come to the church for a nutritious lunch Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. There is no charge, no registration, and the program is open to all children age 18 and under.

The Summer Food Program provides the nutrition children need to fuel up for summer so they can learn, play, and grow when they are not in school.

Meals will be provided by volunteers from througout the community. In addition to feeding the children, we also want to provide a welcoming, loving environment that children crave just as much as a healthy meal. In Matthew 25:34-35 Jesus says, "Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink...."

Organizations, individuals, churches, parents and children are encouraged to volunteer. If you have an idea for a program to go along with lunch, let us hear from you. There are still days available for volunteer groups to prepare and serve a meal. If you would like to volunteer your organization, family, or group of friends to help out, please contact Cindy Powell at 325-347-2596 or by email at cpowell62@verizon.net or Judy Branch at 325-258-4491.
