Dick Polk

Dick Polk of Mason passed away on Monday June 21, 2010, at the age of 82.

Dick was born in Mason on March 21, 1928, to Ned and Bessie Polk. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1949. On September 16, 1950, he married Lila Jo Chew. He worked at the Union Stock Yard in San Antonio before serving his country in the Army. After his time in the service he returned to the Stock Yard as a cattle buyer. Later Dick became a rancher, in Mason. Dick was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years and a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Mason.

He is survived by his wife Lila Jo Polk of Mason, son Richard Ned Polk of Mason, daughter Cara Ann Polk of Austin, sister-in-law Wanda Polk, nephews David Polk and his wife Adrienne of Palestine TX and Ned Polk of Belton TX.

Funeral services for Dick Polk were on Saturday June 26, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Mason with Pastor Tim Fahrenthold officiating. Interment followed at the Gooch Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Polk, Ned Polk, John Street, Kevin Johnson, Kevin Chapman, Scott McMillan, Ken Hart, and Tim Underwood.

Visitation with the Family was held on Friday June 25, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home.
