Documents pertaining to any cases that were handled by City Code Enforcement should be available for public view and/or copy at our City Hall. Under the Open Records and the Freedom of Information laws, you, the public, have a right to know. There are certain restrictions, under Federal law (1974 Privacy Act), that protect the person who files the complaint unless that person has signed a release.

Ms Pattie Grote, our City Secretary, can provide you with specific details in those matters as to what you can, or cannot, see. As your Code Enforcement Officer, I am licensed under the Texas Department of State Health Services, and bound by Texas Administrative Code, Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 140, Subchapter D. That law is also available to the public. From that law, a position description as City of Mason Code Enforcement Officer, including the legal process for handling code violation complaints, was presented to the Commissioners several months ago and should also be available as public record. Once again Pattie can address details for access. She can be reached at City Hall directly or by calling 325-347-6449.
