Dear Mason Friends,
I had a marvelous experience yesterday that just points out again how wonderful the people are from Mason and the Hill Country.
It goes like this: late in the afternoon I got an email from the gallery here in Santa Fe that represents my art saying that they had just gotten a phone call from UPS. Kim Metcalf in a UPS office in Kerrville had a box without a label in her office.
Rather than sending it to the "dead box" department at UPS, she took the liberty of opening it and saw that it was a bronze sculpture. She thought it looked important and took the time to remove it from the box to see if she could determine the artist or the title of the bronze. When she saw that it was signed by me,she remembered that Gene and I had lived in Mason (where she grew up and still has family) for a while and knows of us from Mason National Bank where she banks.
She Googled my name, found a gallery that shows my art and called them for directions on what to do with the bronze. The gallery got in touch with me and I was able to alert the foundry in Bastrop that the bronze they shipped out on Monday to my photographer in Fredericksburg had lost its label due to the heat in TX.
They were able to give Kim the UPS tracking number and she printed a new label and got the bronze back on its way to Fredericksburg. I am so grateful to Kim for stepping in and solving a problem that could have been expensive and challenging for me. God Bless people like her.
I count my blessings for having lived in Mason for seven years and for the wonderful friends I still have there in the Hill Country. I thought I should share this happy story with all of you.
