The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, August 10th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 35 members and 2 visitors in attendance.

Lion Jerry Bearden was responsible for the program and introduced Jan Appleby, who spoke about A Birthday Party for the Courthouse. This year will be the 100th Birthday of the Courthouse. The present Courthouse is the 3rd Courthouse for Mason County. The event will be Saturday, October 23rd. There will be live music, Birthday Cake, hot dogs, and other activities to celebrate this occasion. More information will be forthcoming.

Judge Jerry Bearden gave a brief update on the Restoration of the Courthouse.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, August 17th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be George Brannies.

The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
