The Mason Community Foundation is currently seeking grant applications from Mason non-profit organizations for the current cycle that ends September 1, 2010. The profits from the Community Thrift Store, which is run by the Foundation, have continued to be very strong, and therefore the Board set aside significant funds to provide for these grants. The Board is seeking project oriented grants of up to $5,000 from Mason non-profit organizations that will benefit a segment of our community and provide a positive impact. If you have an idea or would like further information, grant applications can be picked up at the Thrift Store, and questions can be answered by officers of the Board: President Brent Hinckley, Vice President Mary Freytag and Secretary Rosemary Kruckemeyer.
The Community Thrift Store continues to thrive and is very appreciative of the many donations and volunteer hours that help to keep things working. Your donations of gently used clothing and household goods are "recycled" and sold at very reasonable prices, and the profits have already funded over $90,000 of project grants throughout the Mason community. If you have a project for your non-profit and would like to be considered as we look at new funding, please get an application and return it in the next week. In addition, the Store Operations Committee is currently looking for some new employees to keep the store working smoothly, and is looking one part-time and one full-time worker. Applications can be picked up at the Thrift Store, and questions or information can be supplied by Committee Chair Suzanne Bjork.
