Mason Lions Roar

The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, August 17th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 30 members and 2 visitors in attendance.

Lion Kirby Groves was responsible for the program and introduced Jodell Brooks, Dist Representative for Congressman Michael Conaway who spoke about her duties in the office of Congressman Conaway. Mrs. Brook's office is in Llano at the County Annex on Sandstone Street. She also comes to each County in the District once a month to answer questions & concerns of the people. She can help out on just about any government related problem, such as Veterans, Social Security, Military Academy Admissions & also tours in Washington, D.C., tickets to museums, maps & such. Mrs. Brook's telephone number is (325) 247-2826. She said she would be glad to try & help in any way she can.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, August 24th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Denwood Butler.

The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
