The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, August 24th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 36 members and 3 visitors in attendance.

"Boss Lion" John Gammill, along with Lion Lee Graham and Eva Tannehill gave reports on the 5K/10K Run/Walk to be sponsored by the Lions Club on October 2, 2010. Volunteers are needed to help out on that Saturday morning, to get the course markers out, to help with traffic in the area, to keep walkers and runners safe, and also keep all participants on the course. Anyone that would like to help can get in touch with Mr. Lee Graham. About 20-25 volunteers are needed, with most of them being Lions Club members.

The Lions Club will sponsor a Hamburger Lunch, Friday, September 3rd on the West side of the Courthouse Square. It will be from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. or sold out. The cost is $6.00 for a burger, chips and drink. Ya'll Come!

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, August 31st, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Thom Canfield.

The Mason Lions has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
