The Heart of Texas Chapter of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas will host a reception on Monday, September 13, at 5:30 P.M. The reception will be followed at 6 P.M. by author Al Thompson speaking on the role of the Texas Navy in securing the independence of Texas from Mexico. The meeting will be held at the Brady National Bank Community Room, 111 South Blackburn Street. The public is invited to meet with us and learn more about what we do.
Ask us how to become a member of The Daughters of The Republic of Texas. Do you know your Texas heritage? Who are your ancestors? When did they come to Texas? We can help you find answers hidden in documents, census records, references. If you discover that you do not meet the qualifications for membership, you can still join us as an associate member.
Why become a DRT member? (1) to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved and maintained the independence of Texas; (2) to document your family’s history for future generations; (3) to foster preservation of historic documents, sites and celebrate Texas Honor Days; (4) to encourage publication of records of patriots; (5) to meet and make friends locally and statewide.
For more information, go online to http://www.drtinfo.org or call Sharon Purcell, local chapter president, at 597-2887. Or best of all, come meet us on September 13.
