Carlos Castillo of Mason passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the age of 49. Carlos was born on March 24, 1959 in Mason, Texas to Rafael “Ralph” and Estela Sanchez Castillo. He graduated from Mason High School in 1980 and worked for a time as a janitor at the school. He loved to do word puzzles and enjoyed music. He liked to go to the Mason County Opry and enjoyed visiting with people around the square. Carlos was a loving uncle and a kind-hearted person.

Mr. Castillo was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Castillo and one sister, Erlinda Kibbett. He is survived by his mother, Stela Castillo of Mason, his brother, Manuel Castillo and wife Mary of Center Point, two nephews: John Castillo of Round Rock, Enrique Castillo of Center Point; two nieces: Jheri Carey of San Angelo and Bianca Kibbett of San Angelo; two grandnieces: Mya Carey and Melissa Garrett and one grandnephew: Austin Garrett.

The vigil service will be Monday, May 26, 2008 at 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass service for Carlos Castillo will be on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church with Father Gabriel officiating. Interment will follow in the Crosby Cemetery. Ruben Avalos, Johnny Menchaca, Danny Martinez, Salvador Castillo, Freddie Sapien, Eli Castillo, Antonio Avalos and Joe Avalos will serve as pallbearers. Condolences may be sent to the family on-line at www.masonfuneralhome.net. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mason Funeral Home.
