Ice Cream Social To Kick Off AWANA At First Baptist
Wednesday, September 15, 2010 • Posted September 15, 2010

We need to be intentional about training our children to know God and His Word. One of the ways First Baptist of Mason has chosen to do this is through the AWANA program, which will begin its 4th year in Mason. The name AWANA stands for "A Workman Approved is Not Ashamed" and is based on 2 Timothy 2:15 which says "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." We believe that through the AWANA program we can be intentional about getting God's truth into the hearts and minds of children.

Each week the children have an opportunity to learn and recite Bible verses, play fun AWANA games, earn points and badges, and hear about God's love for them. The AWANA program will be open to any child in the community from ages 3 (must be potty trained) through those in 5th grade. The classes will be divided into 3 levels:

Cubbies: 3 & 4 years old

Sparks: K – 2nd grade

Truth & Training: 3rd – 5th grade

A Parent meeting and registration will be held on Sunday, September 19, at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at First Baptist followed by an ice cream social in the fellowship hall. This is a VERY important meeting for ALL parents and kids who plan to attend AWANA this year. You will have the opportunity to meet the teachers and to find out about a few changes that will be made to the program this year. AWANA will begin on Wednesday, September 22, at 6:45 p.m. and will end at 7:55 p.m. (note time change). All parents MUST come with their child the first day of class.
