Theresa Kruse Baker

Theresa Kruse Baker of Gonzales passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, in San Antonio at the age of 82. She was born to the late William and Veda (Butler) Kruse on June 9, 1928, in Mason.

Theresa started school at Peters Prairie School at Camp Air, transferred to Mason High School, and graduated in the class of 1945. She graduated from Santa Rosa School of Nursing in 1948, and started her career at Warm Springs Foundation where poliomyelitis patients were treated.

On Sept. 16, 1950, she married the love of her life Leo J. Baker, and they settled in Gonzales.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Steve Baker; one daughter, Janet McCarrell; and one sister, Bonnie Hannah. She is survived by one son, Fred Baker of Gonzales; one brother, Buddy Kruse of Uvalde; three sisters, Lola Hohn of Mason, Pearl Segars of Austin, and Helen Taylor of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren, two step-grandsons, one step-granddaughter, and four great-grandchildren.

Rosary was recited on Tuesday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Chapel in Gonzales. Funeral services were on Wednesday, September 8, at St. James Catholic Church in Gonzales with Rev. Raaz officiating, and interment in Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Baker were Mike McCarrell, Jason McCarrell, Justin McCarrell, Jerry McCarrell, Stefanie Gonzales, and Tony Brom.
