Maon, Texas – September 13, 2010 – Dave Campbell’s Texas Football is proud to announce that the Mason High School Punchers football team has been named the Army Strong Team of the Week for Division 1A.
The Punchers were chosen for this honor because of their teamwork, dedication, discipline, personal courage and integrity, values shared by U.S. Army Soldiers.
"Mason faced its toughest non-district foe on Friday night when the Punchers went up against 2A DI No. 7 Comfort. The game went down to the wire, and Mason emerged with a 34-33 win, thanks in large part to the play of RB David Mora," said Adam Hochfelder, general manager of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. "Mora rushed for 258 yards and four TDs, including the game’s final two scores as the Punchers rallied from a 33-20 deficit."
The award will be presented to the team at a time to be determined later this week by a representative of the U.S. Army.
"The U.S. Army is recognizing the student-athletes at Mason High School for demonstrating qualities similar to those exhibited by its Soldiers. Student-athletes and Soldiers share similar values, but more importantly they must be mentally, emotionally and physically strong," said CPT Jay Williams. "We expect to see some of these young men competing at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, the college level, or maybe even professionally in the future."
