Mason Game Wardens Offering Hunter Education Course
Wednesday, October 6, 2010 • Posted October 6, 2010

Mason Game Wardens Cody Hatfield and Randall Brown will be offering a hunter education course on October 16 and 17. The two day course will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days, and will be conducted in the Courthouse Annex (the old Post Office building on the southwest corner of the sqaure).

A hunter education course is mandatory for all hunters born on or after September 2, 1971. Texas law states that a hunter who was born after that date, and who is under 9 years of age, must be accompanied by a person who is at least 17 years of age while they are hunting. If the hunter is ages 9-16, they must be accompanied or have completed a hunter education course. If the hunter is 17 or over, they must complete a hunter education course or purchase a one-time-only hunter education deferral good for the current license year (and must be accompanied).

The proof of hunter education or deferral must be on the hunter's person while they are hunting; but, the proof is not necessary to purchase a license.

The cost for the two-day course will be $15 per individual. To preregister, call either one of the TPWD officers at (325) 423-4034, or (325) 203-7688.
